Through our work as dive instructors we have had a first-hand view of the massive impact plastic products have on our seas and shores, therefore having a natural product is not enough for us. We believe that to have a truly natural product, we would also need to have an environmentally friendly packaging.

Small river. Beauty of nature
Recycled paper used for our packaging.

What good is it to sell in recyclable material if it is not being recycled? In Europe only 30% of plastic and 42% of the plastic packaging is actually being recycled, most of it is burned or ends up on a landfill or in our oceans. There are simply not enough companies willing to use recycled plastic. The demand for recycled plastic in Europe is only 6%. Our 200ml bottle is made of 95% Recycled PET (R-PET) and is recyclable, so hopefully we will be using it again.

Unnecessary excess packaging

Kraft paper

Kraft paper is one of the most environmentally friendly packagings on the market, it's originally derived from wood chips and is easily recyclable or biodegradable. Making recycled kraft paper from recycled paper creates 35% less water pollution and 74% less air pollution than making new paper. This is why we are using recycled and recyclable kraft paper for our soaps and solid shampoos.

Less is more

Have you ever bought a product that seemed to take forever to unwrap, due to it being boxed in another box and maybe even with some shrink foil around it to make a seal? It may look good, but it all requires manufacturing, transportation, and recycling. Here at Herbania, we believe that the product should speak for itself, and by limiting the amount of packaging we help minimize the environmental impact of our products.
